As a translator who grew up in both the culture I'm translating from, and the one I'm translating into, I believe that localizations should accurately transmit the cultural perspectives and context of the source work rather than replace them with those of the target language.Localized works are a wonderful opportunity to broaden people's horizons and introduce them to worldviews that are different from their ownAs a storyteller I believe that fiction can serve as not just an escape, but a refuge.Stories have the power to show what is possible, both the good and the bad. They show us the best of what we can be and warn us of the worst.Stories encourage empathy and resilience. And when we gain the ability to empathize with others, we also cultivate the strength to stand by their sides as allies.
